POWER-HUNGRY MEN Words & Music by: Piet Louter It started on their toddler ages; some guys stole the show And put themselves on higher stages, were fated just to grow Into people of importance, who we can’t neglect To pay them with the highest wages and be held in great respect. Then they gave themselves the finest places, from where they run the show. And where they easily can hide their faces and no-one gets to know Just the real things, what they’re up to; who they really are. So we only see their loving graces and their artificial star. And all the world is bowing to these kind and gentle kings. But nobody seems to notice, that we’re bowing on their strings. I cry for the dying world, For having to see, that everything is in their hands. I die for the shining pearl That earth could be without these power-hungry men. They filled their talks, so promissory, with the whole bag of their tricks. And they saddled us up with fairy-stories, and they just know how to fix It in the minds of silly people at their special schools, Where we faithfully learned to live according to their oppressive rules. And all the world is dancing to their inharmonic tunes. But nobody seems to notice, that we’re dancing on their ruins. I cry for the dying world, For having to see, that everything is in their hands. I die for the shining pearl That earth could be without these power-hungry men.

RUNNING BLOOD Words & Music by: Piet Louter From the time that people began to ask questions of live and death, There has been others, who alleged to know all the answers, they wanted to get. They rather believed the stories, from which they could take some heart, Than having to be the only fool, staying in the dark. Still there were some headstrong people, who couldn’t but refuse To rely on a stunning god and just take it for the truth. They have been fallen sad victims to what was given birth. Just watching their running blood, That flowed out over the earth. Every time when people started to think about right and wrong, There have been others, who laid down the roads, they ought to go along. They rather were worthy people, though it might be just a fake, Than being that poor devil, burning at the stake. Still there were some headstrong people, who couldn’t but decline To believe in a stunning god and behave themselves in line. They have been fallen sad martyrs to what was given birth. Just watching their running blood, That flowed out over the earth.

MESSAGE FROM KISHORE Words & Music by: Piet Louter It’s owing to the wealth, in which I happened to be dropped I don’t know any better and that I never stopped At the thought that I’ve been lucky, being born in the western world Where I really want for nothing and life hardly ever hurts. Still there’s something uneasy, that came lately over me And for some time I’m not quite sure about the man I want to be In my house, there’s a carpet on the floor That I bought for little money at an oriental store And that is found to have a message from Kishore Who says, that all the wrongs, he has to bear, lies at my door. In all my western innocence, I was stupefied for long Never being conscious of having done anything wrong Hadn’t I a clear conscience, respecting others as myself Granting it ain’t hard to do in this small world of wealth Now I’m faced with the reality of the using of the poor And I’ll never enjoy the traps I own as I ever did before In my house, there’s a carpet on the floor That I bought for little money at an oriental store And that is found to have a message from Kishore Who says, that all the wrongs, he has to bear, lies at my door.

The Big Fall 03:33
THE BIG FALL Words & Music by: Piet Louter The crowded cities are growing out of control And nature is sacrificed by force. Our thousands of pretties are now taking its toll, As we’re gonna see it as a matter of course. Oh, we can’t be turned away from this dead end street And we can’t be dissuaded from our straight-out greed. The Big Fall is coming and we’re going downstream, But its noises cannot rouse us from the dream. The Tower of Babel is built up again And we once more won’t reach heaven in the end. The powerless bubble is just about to break, But its burst might not induce us to awake. We don’t want to be troubled with one thing or another And all these dark thoughts must be kept down and smothered. The Big Fall is coming and we’re going downstream, But its noises cannot rouse us from the dream. We don’t hear it, we don’t feel it And we just don’t wanna see it, Cause we are wholly up to the dream.

HIGHWAY TO HEAVEN Words & Music by: Piet Louter The world is fast, The world is slowly passing you just away. You’re up to be cast For being holy, and you can’t be led astray. People set you up, people set you down, You give them all the road ‘Cause you have the really faith And one would think you may Get a heaven of your very own. On the highway to heaven everyone makes a day. On the highway to heaven everyone drives one way. Then when it’s far past eleven, you’ll be sorry forever, ‘Cause you’ll see that your heaven is a neighbor of hell. The world is mad, The world is crazy, just some paradise of fools. Where everybody’s bad And everybody’s lazy, and all would like to rule. They’d like to set you up, they’d like to set you down, You give them all the road ‘Cause you have the really trust And one would think you must Get a heaven of your very own. On the highway to heaven everyone makes a day. On the highway to heaven everyone drives one way. Then when it’s far past eleven, you’ll be sorry forever, ‘Cause you’ll see that your heaven is a neighbor of hell. On the highway to heaven everyone makes a day. On the highway to heaven everyone drives one way. Then when it’s far past eleven, you’ll be sorry forever, ‘Cause you’ll see that your heaven is a neighbor of hell.

MIRROR TO YOUR HEART Words & Music by: Piet Louter When you’re looking in the mirror and think poorly of yourself, You got the tendency to smash it; you wanna be somebody else. Pulling faces, just to look like somebody, you admire, You try to imitate his nature to carry out your heart’s desire. But whatever you may act to flee the person, that you are, You’ll find yourself to be acting out of the part. Cause there’s someone always holding up a mirror to your heart, Who used to be always just around the corner. So that doesn’t help your matters and it really gets you down. You hang between giving up and holding your ground. But more and more you come to see, there will be nothing else But take that steady rule, that you can’t deny yourself. So whatever you may act to flee the person, that you are, You’ll find yourself to be acting out of the part. Cause there’s someone always holding up a mirror to your heart, Who used to be always just around the corner. Till you know just somebody, who has done something cool, Who gives you a turn, cause he’s looking like you. And makes you stop loathing the mirror to your heart, That used to be always just around the corner.

A PLACE IN THE SUN Words & Music by: Piet Louter Since the earth is populated by human beings, There’s a run of struggle for things to be won. No means have been shunned, being useful for seeing They came out of the shade into the sun. And the sun shines on all what’s going on, Just between the clouds, they are always on the run. Running from the darkness and looking for some fun, Fighting one another for a place in the sun. Of course, there are winners, just the right of the strongest. That already holds from when the world was begun. So they took the prices, cause they were the longest On seeing where to be and meet the sun. And the sun shines on all what’s going on, Just between the clouds, they are always on the run. Running from the darkness and looking for some fun, Fighting one another for a place in the sun. Pity for the losers, they suffer from their weakness, From holding on their silence and leaving things undone. They’re fated to be poor, giving way to bleakness. So they’ll never know what’s up under the sun. Cause the sun shines on all what’s going on, Just between the clouds, they are always on the run. Running from the darkness and looking for some fun, Fighting one another for a place in the sun.

DASH OF HOLY WATER Words & Music by: Piet Louter When I was born, I’ve been hurried for ridding me of the sin That I would have got from Adam, naughty as he has been. How could I bear and be aware of anything good or bad? Helpless and dependent, they splashed my tender head. All my life was made up on that day. And I certainly couldn’t get away. So I loudly cried to heaven, when the priest was coming up With a dash of holy water, just coming from the tap. Oh I am sure, their hearts were pure, saving me from hell Seeing they were good parents, they wished me to turn out well. Why should they care, being unaware of it could do any harm? Trustfully and proudly, they held me in their arms. All my life was made up on that day. And I certainly couldn’t get away. So I loudly cried to heaven, when the priest was coming up With a dash of holy water, just coming from the tap. I guess, the priest was very pleased with counting me in his crowd As another new believer, as if I would have really vowed. He just could bear being aware of I couldn’t reason about, Referring to his servant’s job, that he was carrying out. All my life was made up right away. And everybody had a lovely day. But I, I cried to heaven, when the priest was coming up With a dash of holy water, just coming from the tap.

HOUSE OF CARDS Words & Music by: Piet Louter In ancient times most people were so credulous, they believed any story suiting well. They were told about an afterlife and it got them to conceive of a heaven and of a hell. Cunning people took advantage of this silly state of mind And just got hold upon the crowd. They proclaimed the gospel of peace and love, but took the power all about. But how it would come down And all those sacred figures would fall onto the ground. It would be rationally stripped of its hearts. It would turn out to be an unsteady house of cards. In later times they went on making up all sorts of things Got people tied to their device. By firmly underlining what it would bring; eternal life in paradise. So self-interest changed people into a tame flock of sheep Looking up to the herder. Who’s watching over and keep them asleep and from looking any further. But how it would come down And all those sacred figures would fall onto the ground. It would be rationally stripped of its hearts. And just turn out to be an unsteady house of cards. In modern times people should know better than that And wake from their illusions. And rather be guided by reason and fact To come to their conclusions. Cause now it’s coming down And all sacred figures are falling to the ground. Now it’s rationally stripped of the hearts, Those once were the pillars of a groundless house of cards.

BEHIND THE DARK VEIL Words & Music by: Piet Louter Her heart is much too large For hatred of the brute, Who chastened her just as far As her religion takes for good. She basks her special strength And the benefits, which she draws From just resigning herself To the unfair man-made laws In the darkened corner She watches over anything, That might betray her lack of love. She’s bound in honour To just figure in the wings Behind the dark veil In her own world of thoughts. Her faith is much too strong For objection and protest. And if she has been done wrong, She’s sure to be avenged at last. Everything will gonna be alright At the break of Judgement Day. Up to then she must stand the fright By just serving well and obeying. In the darkened corner She watches over anything, That might betray her lack of love. She’s bound in honour To just figure in the wings Behind the dark veil In her own world of thoughts.

Secret Life 04:45
SECRET LIFE Words & Music by: Piet Louter If you wish to be the very one, That you really ought to be, You may be just afraid, That people will let you down. Though your inner voice is saying, that you have to run From all that sympathy With the man you play, You can’t hurt them anyhow. So you have to fool them By playing in the dark Just the honest real man, that you are. But what’s in a secret life, that cannot bear the light? What’s in a secret life and being torn inside? What’s in a secret life, having to lie and hide And keep it a secret. So you simply choose to sacrifice The natural man in you To a world that loves The man, who does not exist. But your inner man will always catch you in your lies And remind you of the truth, Until you’ll have enough Of having to resist. Wishing, you needn’t fool them By playing in the dark Just the honest real man, that you are. For what’s in a secret life, that cannot bear the light? What’s in a secret life and being torn inside? What’s in a secret life, having to lie and hide And keep it a secret.

ANIMAL FEELINGS Words & Music by: Piet Louter Deep at heart You do know all about yourself. How you really feel In the trammels of your faith. That you must join in a civilized play. Always mind what people would say, If you’d carelessly give way To your unreasoning wants. Animal feelings, that’s what you’ve got. But you learned to conceal it And pretend to have not. But you still have your passions, That you never can lose In habits and fashion, manners and use. And you know, You really felt in devilish hands. But you can break your chains By the godhead in yourself. If you are aware of your life is a lie, You’ve been able to reach for the sky. You can have your wings and fly Wherever you want to. Animal feelings, that’s what you’ve got. But you learned to conceal it And pretend to have not. But you still have your passions, That you never can lose In habits and fashion, manners and use. Animal feelings run in your blood But you’re just made unfeeling So you hardly forgot. That you still have your passions, That you never can lose In habits and fashion, manners and use.

THE FAIR STORY Words & Music by: Piet Louter I saw many people trust to airy hope and dreams That their fervent prayers will be finally redeemed In boundless wealth and happiness, coming later on, Once their earthly lives will have been gone. I saw masses of people wasting all their lives By complying with silly rules, just making them deprived Of earthly fun and flowering and being worldly-wise. Their firmness is their torment in disguise. They want to be amused with fairy stories. They want to be confused and put down. But whatever is wrong with the fair story, Which everybody seems to get around. They just are to follow this safe and beaten track To make sure of being patted on the back To make sure of getting admission and love And especially the blessings from above. They are to be amused with airy stories. They are to be confused and put down. And don’t wonder what’s in the fair story Which everyone’s just getting around They don’t wanna hear of contemporary views From habit and for fear of being disabused For fear of the unknown, for fear of death But mostly of themselves, whom they are left. So they like to be amused with scary stories They like to be confused and put down Just for fear of what’s in the fair story Which everybody’s getting around.

FOR THE BLIND Words & Music by: Piet Louter From the things that would have happened, From the things that have been told, Being handed down through the ages, They traced back the days of old. From the things that could be wanted To come about and going with their breath imagination, They came to their obscure myths. They made up their books of learning how their stories to revive And bring it to reality and alive And gonna get people turning to have the dogma in the mind. But it only was intended for the blind. From the things, they ever dreamt of, From the things, they couldn’t know, They just spread their lively stories in a never-ending flow. From the things, they must believe in, From the violent to the smooth, They just brought their revelations as being the only very truth. They made up their books of learning how their stories to revive And bring it to reality and alive And gonna get people turning to have the dogma in the mind. But it only was intended for the blind. At the things, they failed to notice, At the things, they didn’t tell, At the things, they said to have it from some very deepest well, At the things that have been found out to be fabulous and wrong, They won’t call it into question and just must keep holding on Gonna get people turning to have the dogma in the mind, That only was intended for the blind.

THE GREAT UNKNOWN Words & Music by: Piet Louter I can see the reason why you’re loyal to your faith And open to the dreamy light of the misty world of wraiths. I am just as shy as you of what will come at last. But we can’t deny the truth, that it’s anybody’s guess At the great unknown, we just don’t feel easy at all. And you hold by any straw, that might save at least your soul. So you’re just a kind of thrall; that’s somewhat easier to bear. Taking shelter behind the walls of a castle in the air. I do understand your fear of losing all what you’ve got Just making for an end so drear, whereby everything, which is, is not At the great unknown, we just don’t feel easy at all. And you hold by any straw, that might save at least your soul. Cause your soul is out-of-bounds, Beyond of what men can find. But if it really should come about, There is nothing in, nothing in, nothing in your mind. Then close your eyes, when the moment of truth has come. You won’t need to be scared You won’t be aware of what’s going on. And that you wished to see if you’d be borne out on your thoughts Or only thought in kind in heaven on the minds of the one’s beloved.

IF WE COULD SEE Words & Music by: Piet Louter Some people say, they hold on a faith and believe To what is written, what is told and they just conceive The acts of an almighty god, judging who is right or not, Who created and rules the world and the universe. Some people say, they found out, there is no other cause Of bringing all the things about, but the natural laws. Life came into being by the chance, The earth was given real good circumstances. There may be millions of worlds like ours in the universe. If we could see the things beyond the horizons Of time and space, of knowledge and mind; We would have the answers to all our questions. Without wondering why. Without wondering how. Some people say, they know from visions and dreams, Acting in a world disclosing supernatural scenes. They came into a kind of wonderland, Where everything is clear to understand, Concerning all, people wanted to know through all the times. If we could see the things beyond the horizons Of time and space, of knowledge and mind; We would have the answers to all our questions. Without wondering why. Without wondering how. If we could see the things beyond the horizons Of time and space, of knowledge and mind; We would have the answers to all our questions. Without wondering why. Without wondering how. If we could see, if we could see If we could see it for a moment, There’s nothing left to quarrel about

Time 04:25
TIME Words & Music by: Piet Louter Time isn’t always on your side, But it’s always going with you. Going steady, setting the pace. And you shouldn’t slow down or race, Reaching some place. And time will show what you’ll come to know. Take your time, it once will tell how far you’ll go. Then time is about, That you’re running out of breath of life. And your name will fade in course of time. And time survives. Time cannot be too fast to you, When everything is bad and boring. But you might want time to stop, When you’re really at the top Of your running up… …against time, it shows what you have to know. Take your time, it once will tell how far you’ll go. Then time is about, That you’re running out of breath of life. And your name will fade in course of time. And time survives.
