FALLEN LEAF

Words & Music by: Piet Louter

I’ll never get used to some events;
When a strong leaf has been torn away,
By a violent wind, dropped from the clouds.
In the height of summer on a splendid day.

I’ll never be rid of that dreary sight.
See it lying, flatly on the ground.
Quite stripped down of all its pride.
On a barren plain with no other leaves around.

What else can I say, than nature must be wrong.
This is not the way, it should be turning out.
And I can’t conceive,
I must put up with this fallen leaf.

All at once, I view its shiny colour.
On this place, it’s having something sweet.
It’s hard to bear, I see it only now.
Is that what one must die for, here on the street.

What else can I say, than nature must be wrong.
This is not the way, it should be turning out.
And I can’t conceive,
I must put up with this fallen leaf.
