POUR OLD SOUL

Words & Music by: Piet Louter

Who knows that neighbouring old man?
There’s just little known about him.
He’s only found to look so weird
And always dressed the same.
He’s really guessed to be lonely,
Discarded and forgotten,
Being very hard to meet;
I don’t even know his name.

When he wants to see one, he comes to tea with his landlady.
It’s his regular distraction in the afternoon.
Grumblin’ ‘bout people, who he does refuse
To speak to or to know,
For teasin’ them all, cause they made him lose
And pass his days alone.
Pour old soul!

He may be a nature lover,
Painting landscapes but not for people,
Cause he hides his easel quickly,
When a snooper’s passing by.
He chose for life of a hermit,
As a picture without colours.
Never had a real good home,
Neither children nor a wife.

When he needs some love, he has quite enough at his landlady;
Her kind of sympathy is the only love, that he could find.
Talking ‘bout people, who he does refuse
To speak to or to know,
To punish the world, that made him lose
And will let him die so lone.
Pour old soul!
Pour old soul!
Pour old soul!
